Welcome to Historic Mount Union! Every day this month we will share one photograph from the town's past, with the story behind it.

We start from the air: Bricktown USA before 1960. At its peak Mount Union was the largest producer of refractory silica brick in the world, three plants running at once: Harbison-Walker, General Refractories, and North American Refractories. The brick era ran from 1899 to about 1972.
