Six districts, one college, and a volleyball dynasty most of the country has never heard of.
Five of the six school districts serving Huntingdon County play in PIAA District 6. Tussey Mountain, which draws from the Broad Top end of the county, plays in District 5.
Juniata College
Five national championships. Two undefeated seasons.
Juniata College women's volleyball has won five NCAA Division III national championships, in 2004, 2006, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The 2022, 2023 and 2024 titles were three in a row, and the 2023 and 2024 seasons were both undefeated. The 2025 national title went to UW-Oshkosh.
Red marks an undefeated season. Only five undefeated seasons have ever been recorded in NCAA Division III women's volleyball, and Juniata has two of them. The national championship itself has been played in Huntingdon twice, in 1993 and 1998.

The Eagles play NCAA Division III in the Landmark Conference. Volleyball is at Memorial Gymnasium, Huntingdon campus.

Six districts serve the county's 48 municipalities. Huntingdon Area and Tyrone Area play in the Laurel Highlands League; Mount Union, Juniata Valley, Southern Huntingdon and Tussey Mountain play in the Inter-County Conference. Five are in PIAA District 6 and Tussey Mountain is in District 5.

The district became effective on 1 July 1956, when the school boards of twelve municipalities signed articles of agreement, consolidating the old Orbisonia and Saltillo high schools.

Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center
Huntingdon Area, Juniata Valley, Mount Union Area and Southern Huntingdon County all send students to the county career and technology center. It was called the Huntingdon County Area Vocational-Technical School until the late 1990s.
Huntingdon County Holiday Tournament
The county's four wholly-in-county public high schools meet each winter in a basketball tournament that puts Huntingdon, Mount Union, Juniata Valley and Southern Huntingdon on the same floor. It is the one event on the calendar where those programmes are all in one gym.
